Georgie V. "Fowler" James, 81, of rural Arcadia, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. James was born September 10, 1925 at Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Gordon and Iva A. Humphrey Wood. Georgie was a long-time employee of KG and E in Pittsburg. She also worked at the Ammunition Plant in Hasting, Nebraska. She was raised in Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School. She was baptized at the Arcadia Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Daisy Chapter $451 Eastern Star. She married George Fowler in Arcadia. Mr. Fowler preceded her in death December 30, 1954. She later married Thomas M. "TM" James on November 24, 1964 at Girard. Mr. James preceded her in death February 13, 2007.
Survivors include one son, Mike Fowler and his wife, Julie of Lavaca, Ark.; one daughter, Georganne Senecaut and her husband, Rick of Lenexa, Kan.; one brother, Larry G. Wood of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, George Fowler of Lavaca, Ark., and T.M. Senecaut of Lawrence, Kan.; and three great-grandchildren, Kirk Fowler, Kiley Fowler, and Sydney Fowler, all of Lavaca, Ark. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wood.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with J.T. Knoll and Joe Bournonville giving the eulogy. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Casketbearers will be Brent Bedene, Bruce Bedene, Barry Bedene, J.T. Knoll, Joe Fowler, David Ferraro, Steve Knoll, and Tom Stelle. Honorary casketbearers will be Dale James, Franklin James, Don Fisher, Roger Horn, and Joe Bournonville.
