Bronson High School alumni reunite

BRONSON -- The 70th Bronson High School Alumni Banquet was held May 26 in the Bronson Community Center.

Pianist Judy Kuns Gifford accompanied group singing of the National Anthem. Reunion guests recited the flag salute, then President Wanda Bolling Kring welcomed the 114 alumni and guests. Club Boiling gave the invocation,

Mike Bolling prepared the meal, and the Uniontown School FFA, with sponsor Kevin Gleason served with the help of Alan and Becky Shinn. The money they earned will be given to the American Cancer Society.

The entertainment of a ballet "Dancing Doll" by Anna Meissbach and a jazz number "Life of the Party" by McKenzie Kula, granddaughters of president Wanda Kring was enjoyed by the alumni and guests.

During the business meeting special recognition and appreciation awards were given to C. W. Rhoton, L. Ulverton West, David Dunn, and Louis and Elaine Pool by chairman Judy Gifford. The memorial service for departed members Orris Ireland, class of 1926; Hallie Mae West McKean, class of 1928; Zeima Sisson Watkins, class of 1939; David Phillippi, class of 1954; Roy Wilson, class of 1958; and Teacher Enid Dunlap Wood, who taught in l947 to 1950, was conducted by Helen West Feikert.

Minutes of the 2006 meeting were read by Allen Warren. Thora Nichols Shinn gave the treasurer's report. President Kring announced that the Bronson Alumni Scholarship was awarded to Kelli Boone, the L. Ulverton West award to Kathie O'Harah.

The nominating report was given by Janice Leadstrom Olson. The following names were submitted: President, Martha Kuns Ivey; Vice President, Ednamarie Sharkey Jackson; Secretary, Julia Ann Camac Rhoton; Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary, Janice Leadstrom Olson.

Presentation of honor classes was conducted by Corresponding Secretary Thora Shinn. Class of 1927, Bemice Bowers Schlickting; Class of 1937, Reta Mae Ermel Johnson; Class of 1947, Dean Pratt, Dwaine Burrows, Pat Reagan and Irene Roweth Stockstill; Class of 1957, Joe Dawson, Judy Kuns Gifford and Don Nichols. The remaining alumni answered roll call by the years they graduated.

A lyrical dance titled "Prayer" was performed by Anna and McKenzie. Doreen Camp Benton and Ernest Nelson won door prizes, 24 other alumni and guests attending won the purple and white petunias decorating the tables,

The meeting adjourned by group singing of the school song, "White and Purple."
