Stephen Heitz Moore, age 64, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Steve was born March 29, 1943 in Fort Scott, to the late Albert and Velma Heitz Moore. He was a graduate of The University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1966 and began working for Union Carbide at the Y-12 plant and retired in November 1994. He was a member of the Oliver Springs International Flying Club, DRUSCK Investment Club, and the ROMEO Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Steve enjoyed the outdoors and loved all animals, always taking in strays and caring for them. One of his greatest loves was flying and working on his planes, but his greatest love was his family and spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half brother, Gaylord Land. Steve was survived by his wife Kathleen (Kathy) Moore of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, son Paul Day of Knoxville, Tennessee, daughters and sons-in-law Kim and Ray Starr of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Joy and Stan Limburg of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, sister Pam and husband Bacel Gunter of Wartburg, Tennessee, and their son Ryan, half brothers Matthew and David Moore and half sister Dena Moore all from the Joplin, Missouri area, grandchildren Stephen and Alexis King and Cameron Starr, all of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, adoptive family Glen and Sandy King, Shirley, Joe, Bob King, cousins Don Miller, Sherry Miller Short, and Diane Miller Yager, godparent of Gary and Catalen Jackson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wanda and Pete Craven, Joyce and Jan Jannen, AnnaBelle Lane, Angela and Randy Collins, Jerry and Frances Parrett, Phil and Bonnye Parrett.
