Beverly Ann Farley Head, age 66, resident of Iola, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at her home.
She was born December 6, 1940 in Fort Scott to parents Waldron W. and Sibyl Elinore Converse Farley. Beverly was the eldest of 16 brothers and sisters. She grew up in eastern Kansas and attended schools in Pleasanton, Vinland, and graduated from Kincaid High School in 1960.
During high school she met H. Wade Head and the two were married on May 22, 1960 in Kincaid. Their marriage was later sealed in the St. Louis Temple on May 26, 2001. After their marriage, the couple moved to LaHarpe, where Beverly worked to provide for the family at various nursing homes in the Iola area.
In 1978, they moved to Garland and bought a home. In 1980 they became foster parents to Timothy Richard Head and formally adopted him in 1982.
Beverly attended Fort Scott Community College and graduated in 1987. She went on to attend Pittsburg State University. She left her studies, one semester short of graduation to care for her ailing husband. Following her husband Wade's death in 1996, she moved to Iola.
She loved her pets and also enjoyed quilting, art work, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include son, Timothy Head, Fort Scott; three granddaughters, Jordan, Cameo and Courtney; six brothers, Wayne, Anita, iowa, Jim, Bronson, Raymond, Arcadia, Roger, Iowa, Lyle, Iola, and Steve, Glendale, Arizona; six sisters, Rachel, Ellensburg, Washington, Virginia, Atlantic, Iowa, Laura, Columbus, Elaine, Ottumwa, Iowa, Jacquie, Atlantic, Iowa, and Laura, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and two brothers.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Iola. Burial in LaHarpe Cemetery. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, is in charge of the arrangements.
