Following military service in the United States Army, Raymond was employed by Masterbuilt of New Albany, Mississippi, and then by Berg Brake Company of Iola. He loved being a father and grandfather. He was a member of the Iola American Legion Post No. 15 and enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean; four sons, Raymond "Junior" Comstock, Coffeyville, Jeffrey Comstock and wife, Tami, Piqua, James Wesley Comstock and wife, Lisa, Independence, and Robert Lee Comstock, Coffeyville; four daughters, Patricia Darnell Derrick and husband, Rickey, Ripley, Mississippi, Anna Rosemary Smith and husband Otis "Joe", Chanute, Doris Elaine Decker and husband, Robert, Bronson, and Cathy June Alonzo, Coffeyville; brother, Earl Eugene Comstock and wife, Shirley, Waverly; 26 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law Francis Jason "Jack" and Catherine "Louise" Comstock; and an infant grandchild, Mary Jean Derrick.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Jeff Feagins will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Bronson Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening in the Bronson Chapel.
