Minnie LeVerne Holmes, age 94, resident of Pleasanton, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Residencies Assisted Living in Pleasanton. She was born February 4, 1913, in Boise, Idaho the daughter of George Samuel Ashley and Lula Annis Epps Ashley.

LeVerne married Vernon Holmes on August 26, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri. he preceded her in death March 3, 2006. She was a member of the Pleasanton First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included raising birds.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Dee Holmes and Vernon Grant Holmes, both of Pleasanton; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Ashley and a sister, Wanda Louise Chuma.

The Rev. Jaren Witt will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Holmes Cemetery at Prescott. Services are under the direction of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
