United in prayer

Guitarist Dusty Drake leads about 40 residents in a song to kick off a prayer service at Memorial Hall. Rain on Thursday forced the gathering inside. It was supposed to happen outside on the steps of Memorial Hall. Numerous area pastors led the people in prayer. They prayed for city, state and federal leaders along with soldiers protecting the United States. The event, sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance, was part of the National Day of Prayer. 'We believe that God hears our prayers and if God's people will humble themselves and pray, those prayers are going to make an impact,' said Rev. Kevin Moyers in an e-mail to The Fort Scott Tribune.
