Louie Arthur Harris, age 75, a resident of Erie, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Via Christi Home Medical Center in Wichita. He was born May 25, 1931 in Fort Scott, the son of Arthur Hams and Goldie Dunean Harris. He first married
Trevah Joan Bissenden in 1952 at Fort Scott. They were later divorced. He then married Linda Stewart, they too were divorced. Louie had worked in earlier years at a dairy and the Fort Scott Ice Plant. He later worked for various carpenters and plumbers. He enjoyed coon hunting and working with swim dogs as well as wood working and attending horse pulls.
Survivors include a son, Louis Harris and wife, Rhonda, Miami, Oklahoma; four daughters, Wanda L. Carter and friend Danny Spriggs, Xenia, Vickie S. Johnson, and husband Donnie, Camdenton, Missouri, Becky Arm Coulter and husband Ronnie, Fort Scott, and Beverly E. Harris, Treece. Also surviving are a brother, Melvin Harris, Pittsburg and a sister Christine Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his former wife and caregiver, Linda Stewart, of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Harris; his first wife, Trevah; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Family and friends will then gather at Gunn Park. Following services, there will be cremation and burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
