Many entertain family, friends over Easter holiday

Members of the Thrift Circle met for lunch at Pizza Hut on April 4. Later they went to the home of Dorothy Ketner for their regular meeting. Eight members answered roll call with what they planned for Easter. President Dorothy Ketner conducted the meeting. All sang the theme song, "The More We Get Together" and repeated the flag salute.

Dorothy read an article on friendship. The guess what was brought by Anna Rourk. They were baking cups and were won by Dorothy Ketner. All prayed the Mispah prayer to close the meeting. Bingo was played with winners Sylvia Edgel, Nellie Kalm, Revay Brannen, Beulah Queen and Anna Rourk. The hostess gave all in attendance a gift. The May meeting will be with Beulah Queen, with lunch at Cowboy's Restaurant.

The Sunrise Service was well attended at the Diamond Community Church. Breakfast followed with an egg hunt for the children. The regular Sunday service was at 9 a. m. Pastor Muhota and his wife sang the special. An Easter sermon was preached to a full house.

Matt and Teresa Brillhart, Hadley and Ivy, Independence, Mo. came Saturday to visit Eddie and Opal Brillhart. Others coming to enjoy the afternoon were Kate Brillhart, Manhattan, Megan Brillhart, Pittsburg, Brianne and Cooper Brillhart, Ryan, Cami and Riley Brillhart, Hiattville. An egg hunt was enjoyed by the youngsters and some of the adults.

Tom Good, Kansas City, spent Easter weekend with his parents, Jim and Peggy Good.

Larry and Ann Conner, Grove, Okla. and Doug Conner and family, Joplin, Mo. spent Easter weekend with Pearl Conner and attended lunch at Cherry Grove on Easter.

Visitors with Ester Secrest for the Easter weekend were Dixie Woolley, Cody Munez, William Martin, Alan Huchins, Stephen Houchin, Lynette Turney and Mike Mureau, Catoosa and Gayle Reece, Claremore, Okla. Saturday afternoon visitors were Dorothy DeCoudres, Dale and Betty Hixon. Sunday after church, Esther and the group from Oklahoma enjoyed lunch at Chicken Annie's Restaurant.

Jon Bingesser, who is attended Pittsburg State University, spent Easter with his mother, Carol and sister, Brittany Bingesser.

Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Read were five of their children, Becky and family, Iantha, Mo., Chuck, Moundville, Carol and family, and Julia and family, Fort Scott. Mary Ellen Lundberg ate lunch with Eddie Lundberg and family on Easter.

Edna Mae Marsh had lunch with Hubert and JoAnn Thomas, on Easter. Others present were Natalie and Jon Snyder and sons, Fort Scott, Elizabeth and Jo Bob Wright and sons, Miami, Okla., Greg Thomas, Wichita and Nicholas Thomas, Columbus.

Mark Denton and children, Jo Soltron, Marjorie Seaver, Josh Seaver and Melinda Sauerwine enjoyed and indoor wiener roast with Les and Mary Seaver on April 8.

The American Baptist Womens Ministries of the Cherry Grove Church met with Pearl Conner on April 10.

Members of the Cherry Grove Church held a Sunrise Easter Service followed by breakfast. Jessica McPherson gave a birthday offering at the morning service. The choir presented an Easter cantata with Sylvia Singmaster singing the solo parts.

Pam, Eldon and Wendy Korinek hosted a get together for family and friends on Easter. As always, there was a lot of good food, and the egg hunt was enjoyed by all. Those attending were Carole Jean Mooney and Spencer Fahler, Independence, Amanda and Keith Aiken, Pittsburg, Artie, Nancy and Arnold Korinek, Oswego, Lillian Korinek, Parsons, Karen Thompson and children, Newton, Brian and Krystal Willhite, Rachel Willhite, Scammon. Those from the Fort Scott area were John Saldivar, Nole and Marvel Beerbower, Gil, Lana, Ryan and Austin Beerbower, Ruby Myers, Lucile Wolf, Debbie Marquardt, Ashleigh and Blake Marquardt.

Charles and Doris Demott recently spent a few days in Branson going to shows and sight-seeing.

April 4, Opal Brillhart, Charlene Bruns, Pauline Norris and Ruth Walker went to Blue Mound to help their sister, Erma Smith, celebrate her 91st birthday.

Marge Lauber has been busy visiting families during their children's spring breaks. She went to Olathe for the kids break with Jeff and Tammy Wallace and family. The next week she went to Nixa, Mo. and enjoyed spring break with Charles and Jean Stocks and sons.

Katrina Lauber and Chris Ridge, Morrison, Okla. spent Easter weekend with her and they attended the family get together at Julie Lattimer's and family. They all enjoyed a delicious dinner and a huge egg hunt. They also helped Jack Wallace and Ethan Stocks celebrate their birthdays.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Russell and their sons spent Easter with Connie Jackson where they enjoyed a family gathering.
