Autumn Leaves Senior Citizens met with nine present for their St. Patrick's Day dinner and meeting on Monday, March 12. Mrs. Sam Schropp, of Arma, Kan., came with Lisa Robert from Community Outreach to take blood pressure readings.

Corned beef and cabbage was the main dish of the day along with a full menu including warm bread and desserts. Vice president Lilly Coonrod decorated the table with a glass basket of freshly picked jonquils. We were sorry president Carole Garrison was absent, but glad to know she is back in her home.

Coonrod conducted the business meeting. Mary Lee Payne gave the treasurer's report. Interesting thoughts were read by Payne titled "A Young Girl." Jerry Coonrod told of the "Willow Cat." Coonrod's was a poem telling "What Is A Grandmother." Ernestine Berkey's poem was "When Company Comes." In keeping with the season, Mary V. Shead quoted "One superstition holds that if an unmarried lady finds a four-leaf clover and eats it, she will soon meet her future husband." Others present were Helen Sisney, David Peterson, Forrest Berkey and Gary Peterson.

While Ralph and Cindy Shead were on a business trip into Oklahoma last week, they visited his aunt Margaret Wickstrom in Edmond, on Sunday, March 18.

God's Coffeehouse Committee has announced a chili, hot dog and soup dinner will be held as a money-raiser in Arcadia Community Center on Sunday, April l, beginning at noon. They have asked for donations of desserts from willing helpers.

In memory of Paul Shead's 91st birthday on March 23, a dinner was enjoyed by Larry and Vickie Shead, their granddaughter Katy, with parents, Mark and Haley Shead, of Fort Scott, and Mary V. Shead, in her Arcadia home.

Betty and Lou Dehn and Mary V. Shead enjoyed Sunday dinner in the Mercy Hospital Cafeteria in Fort Scott. Among patients they visited was Perry Dobbins in rehab recuperating from complete right knee surgery recently performed in Joplin. Perry is a long-time former resident of Arcadia.

Because Wanda Norris was unable to attend Class No. 10 meeting this past week, Patty Peterson and Mary V. Shead visited her that afternoon. Patty took her a piece of the St. Patrick's Day Lime Jell-O Pie with Cool Whip on top, along with nuts and gum drops. Wanda has recently returned home from Mt. Camel hospital.

A fine weather day made for a big crowd to attend the Briggs' auction sale held in Arcadia at the Briggs' home on Walnut Street on Saturday. It started at 9:30 a.m. and closed at 6:30 p.m. Not only was it a business day, but old-time friends met and enjoyed the fellowship.

Lois Briggs Cline as well as Diane and Paul Starne were guests in Arcadia Christian Church on Sunday, March 25. Lois and Paul were long-time members of the youth group back in their day.
