Delia Ann Lowe, age 87, a resident of Fort Scott, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Blue River Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri, She was born September 7, 1919, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Dolphus McMains and Gussie Million McMains.
She married Alva Lowe on October 18, 1936, at Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on March 9,1998.
She had worked as a cook for both Eugene Ware Elementary School and Fort Scott Junior High School. Delia was a lifelong member of the First Church of God and the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, John Lowe, Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Tim Smith, Anna Smith Lewis, Jennifer Rourk, April Sloan and Jusrina Wiley; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Rourk.
Pastor Philip Wilson will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
