DONALD R. DENNIS

Donald R. Dennis, age 65, of Uniontown, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott. He was born March 3, 1942, in Uniontown, the son of Donald Leroy Dennis and Addie Maxine Holt Dennis. He graduated from Uniontown High School. Don married Betty Krull on July 12, 1965, in Uniontown. He played professional baseball for eight years, pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1965 and 1966. He also worked for the Kansas National Guard for over 27 years before retiring in 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Uniontown, and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. Don also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid vacationer, making countless fishing trips to Minnesota with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two sons, Robert Clendenning, Shane Dennis and wife Shelly, of Wichita; two daughters, Janet Zornes and husband Don, of Arma, and Julie Unruh and husband Scott, of Pearland, Texas. He is also survived by an aunt, Virginia Holt, of Uniontown; and five grandchildren, Clayton Dennis, Kyla Zornes, Allie Zornes, Dominic Unruh and Lucas Unruh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Marion Burt.

Father Darrin May will conduct Mass of Christian Burial at 1p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic School or Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O.
