Rowena Mae Neil, age 91, of Fort Scott, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born September 2, 1915, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Bert Sanford and Blanche Pearl (Russell) Carnes. She married Carl William Neil May 5, 1946 in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death May 26, 1977.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, was involved in the Builders Sunday School Class, and was a member of FCE., and the Union Bend Birthday Club, She was a homemaker and farmer, and also taught school for four years.
Rowena is survived by her son Dwayne Neil and wife Connie, of Fort Scott, her daughter, Carolyn Franzini and husband Bob, of Morehead, Kentucky, a brother: Leonard Carnes of Fort Scott, a sister; Alberta Russell of Boone, Colorado, six grandchildren; Maria Franzini and husband Jason Swank, Laura Franzini, Ben Franzini, Tara Neil, Megan Neil Ghezzi and husband Sehastion, Kati Bolte and husband Justin, and one great-grandson; Theodore Swank. In addition to her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Kenneth Carnes, and an infant son; Lloyd Russell Neil.
The Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services for Rowena 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Fort Scott. Buria! will be at the Hiattville Cemetery following services. Visitation will be Monday, March 19, 2007, from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Konantz-C'heney Funeral Home.
