Four local teens arrested for minor in possession

Fort Scott police arrested four teenagers early Sunday for minor in possession and drinking alcohol at a party on the 1000 block of Holbrook Street.

Police also during the incident took into custody a 14 and 15 year- old teens for curfew violation. They were not drinking or possessing alcohol, according to the police report.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to 1002 S. Holbrook St.,in reference to a fight in progress. Turned out, there were numerous teens partying and drinking.

The night ended with the following persons taking a ride via police to the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center and booked for minor in possession: Casey Rice,18; Bailey Shepard,19; Jordan Newell,18; and Jacob May,18.

Shepard and May were booked on purchasing or consuming alcohol. Shepard was also arrested for obstruction of legal duty and two counts of endangering a child, since the two curfew violators were considered children.

The four were released later that morning on bond ranging from $250 to $3,500.

Police then were called back to 1002 S. Holbrook St. around 2:45 a.m. in reference to a burglary. Someone apparently ransacked the house, destroying a kitchen table, a piano, an entertainment center, a hutch and a window, according to police. A monetary dollar amount was not provided.

The police report noted that the house's contents were not trashed when they crashed the party.

Shepard, who lives at the location, was listed as the victim in the crime.

There were no injuries associated either of the incidents, according to police.
