USD 235 primary advances six, USD 346 sends two to general election

Two candidates for each of three school board seats in USD 235 and two candidates for one position in USD 346 survived the Tuesday primary to compete in the general election.

Rural Fort Scott resident Mark Crystal and Uniontown resident Lynne D. Oharah will move on to the April 3 election, looking to capture USD 235 school board position No. 1. Crystal netted 33 votes, Oharah got 40. The other two candidates, W. Kenneth Fuhrman and Terry Nading, received 11 votes and 24 votes, respectively.

For USD 235 position No. 2, Lori J. Stephens and Jeff L. Tinsley will advance to the general election. Stephens received 44 votes and Tinsley got 49 votes. Denna Myers failed to make the cut, receiving two votes.

Uniontown resident Michael S. Wilkinson and Mapleton resident Leroy Hall advance in the race for the USD 235 at-large position. Wilkinson earned 199 votes, Hall received 91. The third candidate, Uniontown resident B.J. Bartlett, was eliminated, having received 48 votes.

Vying for the USD 346 Jayhawk-Linn at-large position, Tom Foerschler received 130 total votes from Bourbon County and Linn County voters living in that district. Cheyenne Beisiegel garnered 88 total votes and will battle Foerschler in the April 3 election. Lu Ann Hargrove received 83 votes and Bob Wottlin got 54 votes, which were not enough to advance.
