Alice "Marie" Sipe, age 90, a resident of the Medicalodge of Fort Scott, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at Mercy Health Center. She was born February 23, 1916, in Hume, Missouri, the daughter of Ira Chadwick and Jessie Anderson Chadwick. Marie worked at Mercy Hospital as a cook and baker. She married Olen Sipe on September 19, 1933. He preceded her in death on October 14,1987. She had received a 50-year pin for her membership in the Elm Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Devon. She was a member of the Devon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one grandson, Johnny Speer Jr. and wife, Jeannie, Fort Scott; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Olan Speer and Dustin Eugene Speer; a sister, Delores Turner, Seattle, Washington; and a son-in-law, Jonathan Field, Fort Scott. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded

in death by an infant son; Bobby Gene Sipe; a daughter, Judith Field; a brother, Harold Chadwick; and a sister, Mary Fern Nutter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time.
