Gary Young, 63, of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Monday morning, Jan. 29, 2007, at his home. He was born July 12, 1943 in Fort Scott, the son of Emil and Virginia Moyer Young. He married Pat Cotter on Dec. 7, 1964, in Girard, Kan. She survives of the home.
He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. More recently, he was a Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by two daughters, Kim McDermed of Fort Scott and Cam Woods of Belleville, Fla.; two brothers, Raymond Young of Frontenac, Kan., and Bob Young of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Sara Croan of Lane, Kan., and Donna Carson of Garland, Kan.; and eight grandchildren, Jordan, Trenton, Tyler and Megan McDermed, Kaleb, Cole, Dylan and Ericka Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Patricia Brandon and Kathy Page.
Ron Nickelson will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
Burial will be at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Gary Young's grandchildren's education fund.
