Bill Hixon
William K. "Bill" Hixon, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at the Earline Howard Hospice Home Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. He was born on August 30, 1929 in Fort Scott, Kan., to James Fredrick Hixon and Margaret Blanche Wilson Hixon.

He was raised and educated in Fort Scott. Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954, and then returned to Fort Scott where he was employed by Owen Motor Company for several years.

Bill later moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed by Martin-Marietta for over three years and then the family opened Style Rite Furniture from 1960 to 1968.

He moved family and business to Fort Scott for 10 years and retired after several other business ventures.

He moved back to Colorado to enjoy the mountains for several years. He and his wife, Ruby also enjoyed RV'ing while in Colorado. He moved to Bella Vista eight years ago, where he loved to socialize and play golf with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Hixon of Bella Vista, Ark; three sons, Mark Hixon and wife, Mary of Topeka, Mitch Hixon and wife, Lyn of Brentwood, Tenn., Mike Hixon and wife, Sherri of Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Jim "Curly" Hixon and wife, Lois of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Nick Hixon, Michelle Hixon, Chelsea Hixon, Andrew Hixon and Sara Hixon.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr., Bella Vista, Ark., with Rev. David Fleming officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice, 9012 Jones Rd., Springdale, Ark., 72762, or to the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr., Bella Vista, Ark., 72714.
