Donald Elbert Yoos, age 96, formerly of Fort Scott and formerly of Bronaugh, Missouri, died Friday evening, January 26, 2007, at the Cedars Nursing Home in McPherson.
He was born June 10, 1910, in Vernon County, Missouri, the son of Henry and Lena Trautwein Yoos. He married Mabel Lydia Snow February 5, 1934, in Nevada, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 28, 1995.
Elbert graduated from Arcadia High School in 1929. He farmed most of his life, and he worked for Key Industries in Fort Scott from 1967 until 1973.
He is survived by a daughter, Dora Shook, and her husband, Joe of McPherson; a daughter-in-law, Karen Yoos of Bronaugh, Mo.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Yoos; a sister, May Schumacker; and three brothers, Carl, Ralph and Charles Yoos.
The Rev. Ray Dobbins will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Old Arcadia Cemetery.
