OSCAR FREDERICK MILLS

Oscar Frederick Mills, age 93, of Fort Scott died Tuesday morning, January 23, 2007. He was born June 28, 1913 in rural Fort Scott the son of Oscar Sheridan and Anna Maud (Jewsbury) Mills. He married Sylvia Pearl Hawkins March 3, 1934 in Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 10, 2003.

He is survived by a son; Larry Dean Mills of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, two daughters; Corene Ann Sanders of Kansas City, Missouri, and Betty Jean Mendelsohn of Omak, Washington, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Frederick Donald Mills, three brothers; John Mills, Donald Mills, and Albert Mills, and two sisters; Mary Rowland, and Bessie DeCoudres.

The Rev. R.B. Shoemaker will conduct graveside services for Oscar 1 p.m. Monday January 29, 2007 at Memory Gardens of Bourbon County. Friends and family will meet at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home at noon for a visitation, and leave for the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of the donors choice and may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
