Stephen J. Esch, age 60, of Sunnyvale, California passed away at his home on December 20, 2006. 

Stephen was born February 6, 1946, in Wichita, the son of John W. and Louella (Lunceford) Esch. He attended and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1964 and later attended college at Fort Scott Community College. He was a veteran of the army and served on active duty from 1967-1971. He was deployed to Germany and served in the army reserves until formerly discharged in 1973.  He received training in electronics while in the service and graduated from electronic technical school at Pittsburg State University in 1972. He had a successful career in the computer industry in Silicon Valley for over 25 years for various start up companies as well as GE.

Survivors include sisters Mary Esch LaRue of Bronson, KS and Sally Esch Saar of Dallas, TX; nephews Jeff and Jason LaRue and three nieces; Jenny LaRue and Kathryn and Kristina Saar. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents John and Sadie Matthews Lunceford and paternal grandparents Matthew and Mary Wilbert Esch. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2007, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Thomas Stroot as celebrant. After mass the family will meet at the hall to receive friends prior to graveside services. Graveside services will follow at the St. Michaels Cemetery in Fulton, at 1 p.m. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to services. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2007, were family will receive friends immediately following the rosary. E-mail condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.  The family of Stephen J. Esch suggests memorial contributions be in the form of memorials to the Humane Society.  Memorials may be brought in or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg.  Arrangements and services are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
