Jacqueline Annette McCracken, age 80, resident of Calvary Crossing Apartments, Fort Scott, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Mercy Health Center. She was born August 23, 1926 in Rosalia, the daughter of David Corfman and Lydia Spain Corfman. She was a 1944 graduate of El Dorado High School. She married Dewey (Jack) McCracken November 27, 1948 in Girard. They lived on the family farm for 49 years. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1996. Jackie was a member of the Hiattville United Methodist Church, in Hiattville. She was also a member of the Ideal Chapter No. 369 Order of the Eastern Star of Hiattville and currently a member of Chapter No.13 Order of the Eastern Star of Fort Scott. She worked at the Hiattville Post Office, five years at the Bourbon County Courthouse and 10 years at Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott. She volunteered at the hospital, for the U.S. Census and the Election boards.
She is survived by one brother Glenn Corfman, El Dorado; three sisters, Gladys Volk and Elizabeth Chapman, both of El Dorado, and Nellie Chapman, Holt, Mo.; two daughters, Jo Ann Roufs and Karla McCleary, both of Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Lisa Moore, Fort Scott, Flint Roufs, Battlefield, Mo., Aaron Roufs, Hill AFB, Utah, Jill Anderson, Seattle, Wash., Karmen Cline, Fort Scott; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jake, David and Walter Corfman.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Hiattville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel, with an Eastern Star service at 4:30 p.m. Memorial are suggested to the Hiattville United Methodist Church and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
