Delta Warren Gier, PhD, Prairie Village, died peacefully December 19, 2006, after years of coping with a variant of Parkinson's disease.He also had breast cancer. 

He was cremated by the Cremation Society of Missouri and Kansas. Honoring his wishes, no funeral or memorial service is planned. 

Colleagues and friends are encouraged to create opportunities to celebrate and remember him. A private gratitude gathering may be called in a few weeks by his wife of nearly 39 years, the former Audra May Calhoon of Eldon, Mo.

Contributions in his memory should be made to the Parkinson Foundation of The Heartland, 7800 Foster, Overland Park, KS 66204. These contributions will be directed toward research. Burial will be in the Hepler Cemetery.

He spent most of his life in college teaching at Park College, Austin College, Kansas State College at Pittsburg, Lea College, Cleveland Chiropractic College, and Donnelly College.

He was preceded in death by six of his brothers and sisters and has one surviving sister, Hazelle Kennicutt, Locust Grove, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Audra, and a son from a former marriage, Delta David Gier who lives with his wife, Angela, in Sioux Falls, S. Dak. There are two grandchildren, Delta Gabriel Gier and Anna Julia Gier.
