Survivors include a daughter, Joan Avery and husband Dale, Pleasanton; one brother, Charles Ervin Kay, Belton, Missouri; and a sister, Lorna Scrogham, Edwardsville. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Janet Gabbert, Prescott, Dorothy Avery, Pleasanton; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Chester Key and Fred "Pint" Key.
The Rev. John Comstock will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pleasanton Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Pleasanton Cemetery under the direction of Cheney Witt Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Pleasanton Nazarene Church. Memorials are suggested to either Hospice or the Nazarene Church and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
