William Kenneth "Kenny" DuVall, 45, of Parsons, died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., from complications of Marfan Syndrome.
He had been in failing health, but death was unexpected.
He was born Sept. 2, 1961, in Parsons to William Thomas "Tommy" DuVall and Mary Ann (Woodrum) DuVall. He attended Parsons schools.
He worked at various places throughout his life, including the Stover Standard Station. He retired in 1999 because of failing health. He spent lots of time setting up computers and working on them, both for himself and for friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and new grandson.
He married Jodee Finley on March 18, 1988. They later divorced.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ann DuVall, of the home in Parsons; a son, Aaron DuVall, Fort Scott; two daughters, Carol Ann Duvall, Parsons, and Chandra Stevens, Branson, Mo.; one grandson, Izaiha DuVall, Parsons; a sister, Michelle Kellogg and her husband Rocky, Parsons; two brothers, Clayton DuVall and his wife Kelly, and Shane Thomas and his wife Jamie, Parsons; three step-brothers, Calvin, Mike and Travis Kendall, Parsons; his grandfather, Perl Woodrum, Parsons; a special friend, Karen Thomsen, Queensland, Australia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Tommy "T" DuVall; his grandmothers, Virginia DuVall and Myrtle Woodrum; his grandfather, Miles DuVall; and a cousin, Terry Woodrum.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the National Marfan Foundation, and may be left at or sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Box 942, Parsons, Kan., 67357.
