Lorena Jane Brooker, age 73, resident of 601 S. Ransom, Fort Scott, Kansas, died on her birthday, Monday, January 01, 2007, at Mercy Health Center following a lengthy cancer illness. She was born January 1, 1934 in Fort Scott the daughter of Irah Carver and Iva Lorena Phipps Carver. Lorena was a 1951 graduate of Fort Scott High School. She married Richard A. Brooker on August 5, 1951 at Fort Scott.
She worked in the development office at John Brown University at Siloam Springs, Arkansas prior to the couple moving to Richmond, Kentucky where she was account executive for Abbot Advertising, a company that handled the Long John Silvers account. Following retirement, Richard and Lorena moved to Fort Scott in 1996. She attended the Community Christian Church and enjoyed the 55 Plus Class.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of the home; two sons, Timothy Brooker and wife Paulita, and Mark Brooker and wife Sherri all of Siloam Springs. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Amy Brooker, Siloam Springs; and four grandchildren, Brandon Brooker and wife Laneice, Lindsey Brooker, Nathan Brooker and Matthew Brooker. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Brooker.
The Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in U. S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the David S.
