MABEL LOUISE SPRINGER

Mabel Louise Springer, age 90, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at the Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas, where she was surrounded by her family. She was born January 9, 1916, in Forrest Township, Illinois, the daughter of David Hartrnan and Mary Peters Hartman. She was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church at the age of seventeen. Mabel lived the first thirty-five years of her life in Fairbury, Illinois. She then married Claude Springer in Fairbury on November 4, 1951. The couple moved to a farm in Burlington, Oklahoma, where she lived for twenty-two years. Following Claude's death in 1968, Mabel moved to Fort Scott in 1973. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and babysitting. She also enjoyed working with her family at Sekan Occasion Shops.

Mabel is survived by two daughters, Debbie Banwart and husband Lomue, Fort Scott, and Janice Braker Stoller and husband Bob. Liberal, Missouri; a brother. Dr. Robert Milier and wife Betty, Peoria, Illinois; three sislers, Lucille Schurter, Fort Scott, Ruth Hartman, Peoria, Illinois, and Evelyn Malaimare, Simi Valley, California; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Ada Miller Hartman; her husband Claude; infant brother, Edward Hartman; brothers Melvin Hartman, HarveyHartman, and Godfrey Miller; a sister, Doris Miller Bahr; and son-in-law, Dan Braker.

Funeral services for Mabel Springer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2006, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Fort Scott, officiated by Larry Bahr and John Lehman. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
