Mary L. Sampson, age 47, resident of 504 S. Wilson, Fort Scott, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at her home as the result of a heart condition.
She was born July 15, 1959, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Donald Wesley and Betty Bernice Powell Wiggans. She married William "Bill" Sampson, Sr., on April 5, 1975, in Fort Scott.
Mary formerly worked for Key Work Clothes.
She was a member of the church of Christ, 15th and Crawford streets, and was a volunteer at The Beacon.
Her hobbies included painting, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her granddaughter, KaitLynn.
Survivors include her husband. Bill; one son, Bill Sampson, Jr. and wife Jennifer, and one daughter, Heather Sampson and husband Jerry Leighty; two grandchildren, KaitLynn Sampson and Dakota Sampson; her mother, Betty Wiggans; and mother-in-law, Wilma Sampson, all of Fort Scott. Also surviving is one brother, William "Bill" Wiggans; three sisters, Susan K. Schnichels, Caria E. Fowler and Dawn B. Sharp; seven step- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and five sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Wesley Wiggans; great-niece, Meia Johnson, and father-in- law, Harry Sampson.
Pastor Randy Wells will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery, Garland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
