Frederick Wayne Mitchell Jr., age 45, of Nevada, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at his farm near Deerfield, Missouri.
He was born October 19, 1961 in Fort Scott. He was the only child of Frederick Wayne Mitchell Sr. and Wilma Nadine Johnson Mitchell.
Fred attended Nevada R-5 schools and graduated in 1980. He farmed with his father and moved to Nevada, Missouri after his father's death in 2001. His mother died in 1968.
Fred liked to attend farm auctions and sale barns. He spent many hours with his uncle, Bobby Mitchell, watching television. When Bob died in 2002, Fred was very lonely. Fred's passion was driving the highways and byways.
Survivors include two uncles, Bill Johnson and wife Virginia, Deerfield, Missouri and Roland Hughes, Independence, Missouri. Additional survivors are cousins, Sharon Goding, Bill Smith, Carol Henson, Donna Simpson, Phyllis Spainhoward, Maxine Pole, Kenneth, Phil, Gene, Roger, Billy Joe, Melvin and Russell Johnson, Claribel Kerrick and Kelly Hughes.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at the Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Missouri with Kelly Hughes officiating.
The family suggests that memorials be made, in his honor, to the Deerfield Cemetery Trust Fund in care of the Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, MO 64772.
