She was born in Fulton, Kansas on May 8, 1922, the daughter of William Harry and Gladys Mae Grubb Carter. She married Curtis Brillhart on July 24, 1939, in Fort Scott, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1972.
She was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church, the U.M.W. and had served on the Board of the Fulton Community Center.
Betty is survived by two daughters; Shirley Durbin-Porte of Indio, California and Nancy Budde of Newton; a sister, Margurite Fortune of El Tora, Calif.; a brother, Bill Carter of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Diel, Victoria Durbin, Rex Russell, and Matthew Durbin; and eight great-grandchildren, Haley Diel, Jack Diel, Olivia Diel, Jacob Russell, Alyssa Russell, Curtis Durbin, Kennedy Durbin and Tyler Durbin. In addition to her husband, Curtis, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kathleen Keen and Virginia Finley; and a brother, Bob Carter.
The Rev. Gary Gooding will conduct funeral at 10 a.m. on Wednesday November 8, 2006 at the Fulton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
