Norma Hoyt Page spent Oct. 18 - 19, in Joplin, Mo. with her sister, Kathy Allen, who had serious surgery on her neck.
Herbert Singmaster and his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bertlan, of Ripon, Wis., were here for Herbert's fourtieth high school reunion.
Tony and Buena Karleskint and their daughter, Mary Jo and Robby Clements, of Willard, Mo. traveled to St. Louis, Mo. over the weekend of Oct. 20. They visited with Tony's sisters, Sister Bernedette and Sister Barbara, and several cousins.
Saturday, Sept. 30, Joe and Shirley White had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of their daughter, Susan Goff to John Whitehead of Independence, Mo.
Her children, Rachel Thurston and family, Marsha Clark and family, Alicia Craig and David Goff, gave Susan away in marriage. The ceremony was officiated by Mrs. Connie Smith.
Out of town guest were: parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Whitehead Sr. of Cocoa, Fla. and Mary Delavan of Clarksburg, W. Va. Other out of town guests were, Jean Kennedy, Clarksburg, West Virginia, Phil and Mary Jane Delavan, Cedar Park, Texas, Lisa Vandervelde and children, Pleasant Hill, Mo., Don and Penny Miller, Loretta Hoffman and daughter, Misty, John's sons, Chris, Codey and Isaiah all of Joplin, Mo., Earl and Laurel White, Prescott, Karen Main and Tim Main, Camden Point, Mo., Best Man Thomas and Candy Souder, Grandview, Mo., Maid of Honor, Debbie Gentry and Tera Anderson and Spencer Gentry, all of Independence, Mo.
Local family members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Justin Thurston, Jordan, Madison and Ryann, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Clark and Jayden, Alicia Craig and David Goff, as well as several local family friends.
Following the ceremony a luncheon and cake and punch was served and enjoyed by all. The afternoon was spent visiting and taking pictures. The couple is making their home at rural Garland. They honeymooned at Lakeside Speedway, Kansas City.
Mr. Herbert Singmaster and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bertlan, Ripon, Wis., visited from Oct. 12 - 16 in Fort Scott. Other relatives joining them at the home of Jim and Jeannie Comstock, Friday and Saturday evening, Oct. 13-14 from out of town were, Mrs. Andrea Matters and her three children, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Comstock and Jessie, Paola, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Killian, Wichita, Rebecca Singmaster and her two children, Cleveland, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bullock and three great-grandchildren, of Kirksville, Mo., Jason Lewis, Fort Riley, Brandi Cuse and two children from Chanute. There were 47 family members present.
On Oct. 5, Joe and Shirley White traveled to Kansas City, Mo. for Joe's doctor appointment. They visited with Joe's parents. Earl and Laurel White, Prescott, on the way home.
Ron, Linda and James Center traveled to Kansas City, Tuesday, Oct. 17. They enjoyed shopping and eating out.
On Oct. 6-9, Joe and Shirley White, Bob and Linda McBride, Tim and Carol Allison and Ryann enjoyed camping and trail riding in LaCygne.
Saturday, Oct. 21, Zachary Stephan, a student at K-State, had lunch with his grandparents, Jack and Marge Stephan.
Oct. 13-16, Joe and Shirley White and Bob and Linda McBride enjoyed camping and riding horses again at LaCygne. The fall colors of the trees were beginning to turn.
Herbert Singmaster stayed with his sister, Marjorie Lewis, while he was here.
Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mitchell joined them for a game of cards and visiting.
Friday, Oct. 20, Shirley White and Linda McBride enjoyed shopping and lunch in Pittsburg.
Sunday morning, Oct. 22, the entire out of town Singmaster family members met at Mayberry's for breakfast.
Sunday, Oct. 22, Joe and Shirley White helped remove carpet at the new home of Earl and Laurel White, Prescott.
Lindsey Lewis, a student at George Washington University, in St. Louis, Mo., and her mother, Kitty Lewis, visited with Lindsey's grandmother, Marjorie Lewis, on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Oct. 21, there was a little rain during the two and a half hour parade, but she reports otherwise very nice and cool. They traveled down on Thursday, Oct. 19, and came home on Sunday, Oct. 22. Dale and Betty enjoyed eating at Chicken Mary's on the way home.
Pastor and Mrs. Paul Rooks Brittani, Chase and Courtney, Ron and Linda Center from this area joined approximately 45 others in the Family Life Center Sunday evening after the evening service. Glen and Vana Rash hosted a birthday party for their son, Garret's 16th birthday. There were several different games to play, for those interested and everyone enjoyed pizza, candy, birthday cake and ice cream.
