June Katherine Bower, age 97, of Fort Scott, died Monday, September 18, 2006, at Medicalodge Nursing Home. She was born June 24, 1909 in Cato, the daughter of Bill and Edna Farmer Dunbar. She married Jesse S. Bower. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1953.

She is survived by four sons, Perry Bower, John Bower, Chester Bower, all of Fort Scott and George Leroy Bower, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.; three daughters, Roberta Rickman, Girard, Mabel Green, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Margaret Rhodes, Olathe; a sister, Gunilea Pullman, Liberal, Missouri; 31 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Jesse, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Floyd Bower and Jay G. Bower; two infant daughters; two brothers, George Dunbar and Jesse Dunbar; and three sisters, Lilly Zimmerman, Mae Spencer, and Sally Mayberry.

The Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at Mount Orum Cemetery, near Redfield. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service and will leave for the cemetery at 10:15 a.m. Services are under the direction of Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
