James William "Bill" "Albert" Farris, age 56, formerly of Fort Scott, and more recently from Peculiar, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born November 30, 1949, in Paola, Kansas, the son of John E. and Mildred Maxine Clayton Farris. He married Gayle Diane Hall June 14, 1985 in Miami, Okla.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gayle, of the home, three daughters; Ashley Thornton of Harrisonville, Mo., Rachelle Farris of McCune, and Niki Farris of the home, three sisters; Debra Engstrom of Fort Scott, Jonna Engstrom, also of Fort Scott, and Jerry C. Malone of Portland, Ore., two grandchildren; Ethan Thornton and Mikaela Farris, and his father-in-law, Eldon "Bear" Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Donna Hall.
William James Schafer will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening September 10, 2006, from 7-8 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
Hoffman-Cortes, the Kansas City, Mo. company that Bill worked for, has established a memorial fund in his name. Any contributions may be made out to Hoffman-Cortes for Bill and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kansas, 66701.
