Belle Teague of Arma visited the Ladies Aid Quilters on Tuesday morning and enjoyed lunch with the ladies. She is a former member. Another guest was Pastor David Peterson, who furnished turtle cake for dessert to the delight of the ladies.
Joyce and Carl Turner with Jerry and Lilly Coonrod enjoyed dinner together at Chicken Annie's on Tuesday in Yale.
JOY Sunday School Class held it monthly meeting on Monday evening, Aug. 14, in Christian Church Bungalow with 17 present. Special guests were Jace and Jess Pavlik, who returned from their summer mission in Dearborn, Mich. teaching Muslim workers the English language and preaching.
President Patty Peterson opened the business meeting with the Bible question, "Who is the second oldest man in the Bible?" Jared was 962, his father, Methuselah, was 969 years old when he died.
Birthday offering was given for Jace and Jess, and anniversary offerings for Gary and Patty Peterson's 47th and Lou and Betty Deh's ninth. President's closing quote was "To succeed in life you need three things, a wish bone, a back bone and a funny bone."

Alice Townsend returned to her home in Fort Scott after spending a week with her daughter, Mary Hay, on a trip to Birmingham, Ala. where they attended the 25th anniversary celebration of the Eternal Word TV Network. On her return trip, Alice met her brother Roger Easter in Mt. Grove, Mo. who brought her back to Kansas while Mary Ann returned to her home in Jonesboro, Ark.
Herman Tyler was back in his home on Thursday after cataract eye surgery in Joplin and spending a night with his daughter, Debbie Jeck and family in Pittsburg.
A reminder to buy your chances for the hand made quilt called Kansas Whirlwind to further the cause of the Cato Preservation Group who meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Arcadia Community Center.
On Sunday, Aug. 27, Pastor David Peterson preached from 2Corinthians12 and noted that thorns in the flesh are weaknesses that we must accept but we must keep praying because God's grace is sufficient. Before communion time, Phoenix Dugan made her confession and was baptized after Betty Briggs explained to the children what baptism is all about as they were gathered around the baptistry.
Mae Watt gave an offering as a memorial of Delton Watt's 10th anniversary of his death and a birthday offering for Alex Ralston, Douglas Watt and for Bill and Karen Watt.
Allen Watt was recently promoted to crew chief at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita where he was honored with a 25-year certificate and presented a 2-diamond tie tack by his three bosses who also took him to dinner.
On July 13, Allen and Linda Watt attended the wedding of his daughter, Stephanie, and Andy Schwilling at Island Park in Winfield. The couple stood in front of a large waterfall as they repeated their marriage vows. A reception followed.
