Youth Entrepreneurship ChallengeOn March 6, the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the fourth annual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in partnership with Fort Scott High School. Eighteen students prepared startup business ideas and competed for cash prizes as their projects were judged. As part of the event, students had trade show exhibits displaying their business concepts in the FSHS auxiliary gym.

FSHS Concert-Band/Choir/OrchestraTribune Staff Report The Fort Scott High School music department provided a sneak preview of the school's Christmas music concert Thursday afternoon. The FSHS band, orchestra, select ensemble and choir performed a few songs for the school's staff and student body during an assembly in the high school gymnasium. The public concert took place Thursday night in the gym. Each musical group performed a song from the full concert. The assembly concluded with a Christmas medley performed by the combined music department during which students and staff joined in the sing-along.

Rediscovered train car dismantledAn old tanker car was recently uncovered and rediscovered on the retired railroad tracks just south of the new Riverfront Park road in the north part of Fort Scott. The car was discovered during recent construction in the park area on North National Avenue. Concern about the car's location led to a search for the owner, as well as it's removal, Bourbon County Emergency Manager Will Wallis said.
