Wintry Hostility

I went to the window and looked out with dread.
This was one day I should go back to bed!
My car was missing; it was no where in sight.
It was replaced by a mountain of chrystal white.
I bundled up tightly and went out in the cold.
The wintery effect was quite a sight to behold.
The ground was icy, my footing unsure;
The layers on my car completly secure.
I chipped and I scraped for an hour, maybe two,
Sure that my lips must be turning blue.
With aching fingers, I went where it was warm
Trying to escape this wintry storm.
My retreat short-lived, I headed back out.
I drove to work on an ice-covered route.
The weather, now drier, still freezes my toes.
Thats why I'm now wearing 10 layers of clothes.
