Stress Relief 101
Have you ever had "one of those days"? You know, the kind of day that leaves you feeling as if you had just gone several rounds with a professional boxer. The kind of day that leaves you feeling weak in the knees, and each of your arms and legs all of the sudden feeling as if they weigh 300 pounds each.
After having one such day myself recently, I decided to research different ways to relieve stress and put myself back in a chipper mood.
Here is what I found.
* Rearrange or redecorate environment (Well, obviously since one of my stressers is lack of time to get everything done, this one will not work for me.)
* Feng Shui the ancient art of creating harmony and success through applying the natural principles of how energy moves through nature. (Sounds too complicated. However, I do have a friend who was trying to explain this to me the other day. She was saying something about making sure that my toilet lid was always down because if I leave it up, all my financial success will go down the drain. I guess it can't hurt to try this.)
* Take a break. (Yeah, right!!!!! Like that will ever happen with half a dozen kids and a goat farm to tend.)
* Laugh it off (I must say, this might work. When I was a kid, we sang a laughing song at church, and it was hard to get through the whole thing without REALLY laughing.)
* Eat a well-balanced nutritious diet. (I translate this to mean finish every meal with chocolate.)
* Get a message. (Yes, then I will stress about the money that I spent on the message. Maybe it would be cheaper to get a massaging shower head for the shower.)
* Declare a gripe day. (Gripe for an entire day?? It might feel so good that I might become addicted. I had better be careful with this one.)
* Meditation and deep breathing (Well, since time is a factor, this probably won't work either)
Since most of these ideas probably won't work for me, I must find my own cure, I guess. It usually cheers me up to have a certain co-worker of mine sing "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles. My co-worker's high pitched shrilling of the words "Oo...oo witch..ay woe man. . ." puts a smile on my face every time.
I guess we all have to find our own way to deal with stress. This one works for me.
