Left speechlessPosted Monday, April 13, 2009, at 9:25 PM
Though only 26 years of age I've seen some things that left me nearly speechless.
I've seen car wrecks, house fires, natural disasters, and all the other things that a person never wants to say they were witness to. I've cried, laughed, vomited, passed out, etc. etc. from the things I've been witness to. Never have I really been speechless ... those of you who know me, know that I never shut up.
Today, though, was one of those days that provided a glimpse into the stupider side of man. Here's the breakdown:
My trusty sidekick (2002 Ford Escape) that rarely lets me down needed to eat so I decided to take her for some good ol' fashioned gasoline. 87 grade, the good stuff. As I was filling her up, I notice a silver car with unimaginably cheesy chrome wheels pull up beside me. Evidently this guy's ride needed some gas too.
So as my Ford is taking her time getting the good stuff the other guy gets out of his car. All his windows are rolled down completely. This beast didn't have the child safety windows that roll down halfway either. After a few seconds, mystery man heads inside to pay and then turns around and looks at me with one of those non-trusting looks. You know the look I'm talking about right? So he flashes me that look and quickly digs his remote lock out of his pocket and locks his car. Honk honk. Deed is done. Evidently he feels safe enough about me not stealing his ride now and walks into the store.
This is when the speechless moment began. No words could escape my mouth. Not five feet away his car is sitting there waiting for gas. All locked up. Nobody is breaking through those doors for sure. HIS WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN. Evidently, locking your doors will prevent ANYONE other than God from reaching through the non-existent window holes and take anything that lie waiting OR just pull the lock up and open the doors.
There isn't even a justifiable end to this...nothing catchy to write. I'm not sure if it's funny or sad...
