It Can't Get Here Fast Enough!

Posted Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 8:25 AM

Have you ever been looking forward to something so much you just can't wait for it to get here? I'm in that boat right now!

Late last year Bossman and I decided we were going to book a vacation/adventure based solely on our love for photography. Actually, it was more me just saying "Hey, let's go here and do this because I want to and need someone to tag along so I don't get eaten by a bear and all that jazz." And of course, he agreed without much thought. He's cool like that.

Destination - Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The wife and I ventured there last summer and I promised I'd someday return, never thinking it would be a little more than one year later. It's one of those magical places, especially for photographers. Convincing Gary to tag along didn't take much since he'd already seen my images from my trip.

Here's the plan. Seven days of nothing but camping in the great outdoors and making photos of some of the most beautiful landscape and animals to grace the face of the earth. Sounds great right? It is....now we just have to wait five more months for September to get here!

Five months might not seem like a long time to most but for someone with little patience like myself, it's like a first grader waiting five years for the next Christmas morning gift exchange. It's killing me!!

For now I'm biding my time photographing the sunsets of Bourbon County and that keeps me out of trouble! If anyone knows how to speed up time, please contact me.

Above are two photos from Wyoming and the barn is here in Bourbon County.

I hear ya, Felt. We're going to Washington DC for a week in about four months....and that cannot get here fast enough.

I've always wanted to go - I'm kind of a history nerd - and this year I finally get to, thanks to my darling wife.

Hang in there pal...we'll both be on our way before we know it.

Ummm.....snap a picture as the snarling, drooling bear with 4 inch fangs is almost to attack. It will immortalize you forever. I've seen pictures like that before and they've made people famous. Not so famous that I can remember their names, but famous none the less. Too bad they didn't live to enjoy the accolades.

Rural Redfieldian - I can't wait. I've seen Grizzly bears before....not close enough to see the fangs though. I wouldn't purposely put myself in danger of being eaten but I'm not scared to walk through Yellowstone..I'll most definitely be posting some images on this site when I return.

My wife seems to think that you may have taken my earlier comment seriously. If that is the case, sorry!!! It was totally made in jest. Long live Bourbon County.

I had taken it seriously actually...but glad to hear it was not meant that way. Go BB Co.

You surely had the presence of mind to plan your trip so you won't miss Old Settlers didn't you?
