Plastic lettuce?

Two of my colleagues and myself went to Wendy's restaurant for lunch Wednesday.
I got two crispy chicken sandwiches, a baked potato and a side salad. I was about half-way through the salad when it happened. I took a bite of the lettuce and felt a sharp pain. I immediately spit the food out onto a napkin. Something's not right, I thought. There's no way lettuce is that crispy and sharp. Now this might appear gross, but I digged through the chewed lettuce with a fork and found a small piece of clear plastic. The piece had sharp, pointed ends. It was about the size of my fingernail, maybe a little bigger. I didn't finish the salad. I kept thinking what would've happened to my insides if I would've swallowed it. I went to the counter with the piece in my hand and asked for the manager. I explained what happened and asked how it could've gotten into the salad because the container it came in had a sealed lid. The manager didn't know. He was nice and apologized. He asked if I would like a refund. I said yes and got my $1.29 back. I did an Internet search on items people have found in fast food, thinking my find was mild compared to what others have discovered. It was. Here's what I found, or should I say, what others have found. * An Alabama man claims he found a unused prophylactic condom after ordering a Big Mac at a McDonald's on Oct. 6, 1995, in Hoover, Ala. He tried several times to bite through what he thought was a pickle but then peeked under the bun and saw a condom, still rolled, as if it were just opened. * A Virginia Beach firefighter found two used bandages in his Quarter Pounder at McDonald's in 1994. * In 2004, an Ohio man found some skin (part of a thumb) in his Arby's sandwich. Guess you can call that some finger-lickin good food! Also, there was the well-publicized with the woman who claimed to have found a finger in a bowl of chili at Wendy's. However, it was later determined that the finger came from an associate of her husband who lost the digit in an industrial accident. She planted the finger in the chili in an effort to extort money from the restaurant. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Wow Glover, that really blows! Ha! I'm a bit peeved at the size of the junior bacon cheeseburger. I have to order a handful just to get full!!!
But at least they made amends. Some places would probably rather replace the salad than offer up a refund, not realizing that you've lost your appetite after something like that. Hopefully, they follow through and make sure it doesn't happen again.
im glad too...i love me some wendys. no burger tastes the same.
