It is February 1st. For the next hour and a half or so, I'm 30 years old. As I sit here thinking of all the things that I've accomplished in my life, I've come to realize that the list is not long by any means, but it's very distinguished.

I have:

* Become a wife to a really great guy.

* Become a mother to two really great girls.

* Somehow managed to become somewhat financially stable.

* Actually learned to cook things that my family will actually eat! (This didn't happen back in 1995. I was a LOUSY cook.)

* Been a part of a family that I am extremely proud to be a part of.

* Made really awesome friends.

* Went through some really heartbreaking times that made me a stronger person.

When the clock strikes midnight, I will be 31. According to my children (and my husband who is 38) I'm really old. I can no longer hang on to 30. I'm now IN my 30s. I believe the appropriate term is "30 something". I've been pondering what I need to accomplish before I'm 40.

This is what I've come up with:

* Be a great wife to a really great guy.

* Be the best mother I can be to two really great girls.

* Somehow manage to maintain financial stability.

* Continue cooking wonderful things that will nourish my family.

* Be active in a family that I'm proud of.

* Keep in touch with my really awesome friends.

* Know that heartbreaking times are ahead, but I will get through them.

I think I'm on the right track.
