Mr. Sandman Found

Well, Mr. Sandman is treating me right. (Sorry Layne.)

I'm not sure why, but I have had the most curiously good dreams this past week.

Normally I dream about stressful things that have happened, or things that need to be done; dreams based off of the anxiety in my life.

When I feel like my life is spinning out of control, I literally dream about tornadoes. They are different scenarios where I and family members or friends are scrambling to find safety. Sometimes I'm responsible for everyone. Sometimes it's just me. Sometimes we find safety. Sometimes we don't. I don't actually see anyone get sucked up. I tend to wake up just before impact, kind of that jerking out of sleep response. The thing is, I'm not really scared of tornadoes. I'm actually rather fascinated by them. I'm always looking to get that one really good shot when storm season rolls around. But I think it's the idea that I have to act quickly in order to do something important that produces these dreams.

When I'm stressed I also tend to dream about snakes, which I am very afraid of. It varies from one snake to many, from them striking, to biting to someone throwing one on me. (Never dreamt of one in a toilet -- although after Kenny's experience, I do look now before I sit down.)

But this past week, I had some really good dreams, polar opposites in fact, of anxiety-filled tossing and turning.

In the first dream, I was cleaning or doing laundry and I found a wad of cash. I remember feeling that "Whoohoo" feeling you get when you find a $20 bill you left in your coat pocket the winter before. Only this was a $100 bill (which I never have) that I had purposely set back in case I needed it, but had forgotten about it. And then I found several $20 bills that I had set back somewhere else. I woke up and in the few seconds after the dream, felt a calm, reassuring feeling that I was going to have enough money to cover all my bills this month and have some left over. Once I realized it was just a dream, I was mildly disappointed, but curious as to why I was having good dreams compared to my norm. I was also incredibly motivated to clean my apartment.

A couple of nights later, I dreamt that I was set up on a blind date (which I actually hate). When I met the guy, who was, by definition, a total hottie, he was with his dad, which I thought was really weird. Anyway, through the whole dream, we kept being bothered by people like his dad, his mom, and his ex-girlfriend, who just kept randomly popping up. So we kept running away from people all night just to have a date. But he was so great through the whole thing that it was worth it. We decide to go on another date. So the dream fast-forwards to the next Monday where I'm sitting in a staff meeting. Someone makes a comment about my date. I didn't even know how they knew about it. The person mentioned a name, which I honestly cannot remember, and it turns out, the guy was a famous football player or something and I didn't even know. I really couldn't help but laugh at myself when I woke up. This could read volumes into my social life, but that's a totally different blog.

As silly as these dreams seem, I can't help but continue to wonder if they are a preamble to something good about to happen in my life. They're a nice change anyway. But then again, I have yet to actually see a tornado or encounter a large, venomous snake (thank God).

Looks like I've inspired the masses to check their toilets. When do I get a shiny plaque?

Hmmm... It seems that lots of people are looking down before visiting the toilet now that we've read Kenny's blog. Youre not alone girl!
