SnickersPosted Monday, January 9, 2012, at 9:49 PM
Recently a Fort Scott convenience store was featured in the Tribune for winning a competition among some 30 of its peers for selling the most Snickers bars.
Well, fame and fortune awaits. The Pump 'N Pete's on Wall Street will be featured in this month's issue of Convenience Store Petroleum News. Manager Max Simhiser had a big grin on her face when she told me this when I went to get a USA Today one morning. I'm always glad to hear when the paper makes someone happy. They have also affixed the photo that ran with the story of Max and longtime employee Darlene Clements to their back shelf. There was one other time when I got into a national trade publication -- when National Laundry News ran a story I wrote on a regional laundry consortium being put together by some hospitals in West Texas. I was fascinated with what happens to all those linens after they get used and how they figure out what to keep and what to get rid of. I don't know why. It was just one of those things. |
