Congratulations to Nell

During her nearly 50 years at the Tribune, Nell Dikeman has turned out miles of column inches. She is a community institution. Everyone knows her and she knows everyone. She can remember when everyone was born and could probably tell you what they're doing now.

Every year, the Tribune tries to do something to mark her anniversary with the paper. This year, she opted out of having a story written about her. We were going to run the ad on the front page anyway.

In an unconnected note for anyone who's curious: Yes, I do live in Fort Scott. I've had a couple of people ask me that this week, so I felt I should let people know. It's customary when you're a newspaper editor, or reporter, to live in the town you work in.
